after much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments, the new kid’s family is optimistic. new kid (aka gus) has three sisters: earl, mairin, and ruby. earl and ruby were born too young for this world. mairin was born at thirty-nine weeks, and more than a year and a half later she is wreaking havoc on our house, our dogs’ nerves, and our lives, and we love every moment of it. gus has a mom (carole) who can’t believe there’s a penis growing inside her, and a dad (shannon) who wonders if two kids is a perfect support squad for his bike racing jones, or if he’s crazy.

gus should grace us with his presence in early september 2008.
